Course Pre-requisites

Participants must be able to swim.
The Minimum Age is 12 and prior Medical Conditions must be discussed with the Instructor allocated to the Course.

Certification

The NAUI Open Water Diver Course will certify the diver to dive all over the world to a maximum of 18 meters, both at coastal and inland locations with their qualification cards. Upon Completion – you will receive a Digital Open Water Diver Certification Card.

Cancellation

If cancellations are made 24hrs prior to the course start date, you will be refunded the full course fee less the deposit of R850. However, if cancellation occurs during the running of the course, you will be refunded the course fee less R2550, to cover training materials and accommodation which is paid for in advance.

Open Water Diver

You’re on your way to being a qualified Scuba Diver and we can’t wait to share the experience with you!

Scuba diving is possibly one of the most rewarding activities you will ever embrace! The Open Water Diver Course is your Gateway to the Underwater World! This course is your ticket to a whole new world filled with exotic, playful little creatures that will entertain and amuse all that are privileged to venture below the waves. You will experience total weightlessness and tranquility as you glide through kaleidoscopes of colours and over reefs bursting with life just waiting to be explored.

Certification

You will earn the NAUI Open Water Diver Certification.

This is a formal certification (for both inland and coastal diving) to a maximum depth of 18m.

Course Details

Includes:

  • 6 lectures and knowledge reviews on the basics of Scuba Diving
  • 2 Home study knowledge reviews
  • 6 Pool session
  • Qualifying Dives 5
  • Pool session in an indoor heated pool as well as an outdoor pool depending on weather
  • All SCUBA equipment included (We have limited snorkelling rental equipment)
    It is recommended that you purchase your own mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit and boots for hygienic reasons. Your instructor will advise on the right gear to balance comfort, safety and budget!
  • NAUI digital Open Water Diver certification card – You can dive to a maximum depth of 18m.

Excludes:

  • NAUI course material of R850 (unless already purchased on your Scuba diver Course)
  • Transport to Miracle waters and Sodwana Bay
  • Entrances into Miracle Waters and the Isimangaliso (Sodwana) R23 pp R32 per vehicle
  • Reef Surcharges should we dive to a reef further away
    5 Mile Reef Surcharge R30; 6 Mile Reef Surcharge R40; 7 Mile Reef Surcharge R50; 8 Mile Reef Surcharge R60; 9 Mile Reef Surcharge R70

Course Pre-Requisites

  • Participants must be able to swim
  • Minimum Age: 12
  • Prior Medical Conditions must be discussed with the Instructor allocated to the Course.
  • Special mention should be made of the following Medical Conditions:
    – Asthma
    – Epilepsy
    – Heart Disorders
    – Lung Disorders
    – Severe Claustrophobia
    – Recent Chest Colds
    – Recent Sinus Infections
    – Treatments and/or Surgeries

(Please note: Not all of the above mentioned medical conditions are a definite exclusion from a Open Water Diver Course, and a participant may engage in the course provided a Medical Certificate is provided by his/her Doctor stating that said participant is fit to Dive.)

Time Requirements

The Open Water Diver Course requires:

  • 6 Evenings, which 2 of the lectures will be classroom and the other 4 Zoom
  • 6 pool session
  • 1 Evening for Exam
  • Thursday to Sunday for Sodwana Bay for Qualifying dives

Our Course is incredibly thorough and every effort is made to make sure it is an enjoyable and manageable course for all students.
The Schedules require huge effort and planning from each allocated Instructor and participants are expected to attend the class on time and as scheduled.
Should a participant need to cancel for whatever reason – please contact the allocated Instructor.
Due to the nature of the cancellations, we do require a minimum of 4 participants in order to run the course. Should we not have the minimum number required, the course will be moved to the next available date.

Should issues arise with regards to the schedule, it is the responsibility of the participant to set aside time to arrange a catchup session with their Instructor at their own cost. (R200 per lecture and R300 per pool session)

Deposits and Payments

A deposit of R850 is required to secure your spot on the course.
This is a non-refundable deposit and is used to cover the costs of your training material.

Final payment needs to be made prior to course starting date or cash can be handed to your instructor on the course day prior to any training taking place.
